The Association « Raid Golfe du Morbihan » organizes,

Friday, 26th, Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th June 2009 :



le Raid Golfe du Morbihan « L’ultra Marin »


Rules 2009




1 – The events :

- 'Le Grand Raid 56 Golfe du Morbihan' : That 177 kms long trial is accomplished in a single stage , in pace running. It requires from competitors the ability to be self-sufficient. The maximum race time has been set to 44 hours, every break included, runners having made sure that they checked at the various points before the closing time indicated in the logbook, and at the control points.
'Le Grand Raid 56' will set off from Locmariaquer on Friday, 26th June 2009 at 5 p.m. and will finish at le port du Crouesty in Arzon. It will go along the footpaths, milestoned for the most part, by le Conseil Général du Morbihan, and will go through 17 municipalities.
Event limited to 700 participants.

- 'Le Raid 56 Golfe du Morbihan' : Same kind of trial, 86 kms long, in less than 20 hours, every break included, runners having made sure that they checked at the various points before the closing time indicated in the logbook, and at the control points.
'Le Raid 56' will set off from Vannes, Saturday, 27th June at 5 p.m. to finish at, le port du Crouesty, going through the same paths as the second part of le Grand Raid 56.
Event limited to 1 200 participants.

- 'Le Relais-Raid 56 Golfe du Morbihan' :A 177 kms long trial (same course as le Grand Raid 56 one) to be accomplished in less than 42 hours, every break included, runners having made sure that they checked at the various points before the closing hours indicated in the logbook, and at the control points.
The 4 relays are :
Relais N° 1 : Locmariaquer – Larmor-Baden : 52 Kms
Relais N° 2 : Larmor-Baden - Vannes : 42 Kms
Relais N° 3 : Vannes - Sarzeau : 47 Kms
Relais N° 4 : Sarzeau - Port du Crouesty : 36 Kms
The race will start on Friday, 27th June at 7 p.m. at Locmariaquer Stadium and the finish will take place at 'le port du Crouesty' in ARZON.
Event limited to 100 teams, that is, 400 relayers.

- 'Le Trail 56 Golfe du Morbihan' : A 56 kms trail, in less than 12 hours, every break included, runners having made sure that they checked at the various points before the closing hours indicated in the logbook, and at the control points.
The Trail 56 will set off from Noyalo, Saturday, 27th June at 8 p.m. to finish at, le port du Crouesty, going along the same paths as the last third part of le Grand Raid 56.
Trial selected by the FFA for the Trail Tour 2009. The 'Trail 56' is open to evryone (more than 20 years old), as well as to participants of the 'Trail Tour 2009'.
Indeed, 'le Trail 56 Golfe du Morbihan' has been selected for 'le Trail Tour 2009', label FFA.
Event limited to 500 participants.

2 – General conditions:

The events are open to every person, more than 20 years old, member of a club or not.
Every competitor commits him/herself to abide by the rules by their single registration. Organizers decline all responsibility for any incident or accident that might happen, before, during or after the trial and consecutive to a breach of the rules.

3 - Time limits :

In order to be able to carry on the event, competitors will have to reach the following places in the stipulated time limits :

These distances are only indicative and can evolve according to possible modifications to the course.

4 – Admission conditions of the competitors :

a - Dates of registration :

- Opening day : December, 1st 2008
- Closing day : May, 31st 2009

b - Registration requirements :

For each participant (single or team member), the regitration file must include :
- the registration form
- the medical certificate(see §4-d)
- the payment

c - Registration fees :

For each competitor :

d - Medical Certificate :

A medical certificate , of less than a year validity for 'le Raid Golfe du Morbihan', must be sent to us with the mention "Fit to perform race and trail in competition" . For FFA or FFTri members(season 2008 - 2009), the photocopy of the member card is enough. Scanned or e-mailed documents are accepted.

e - Commitments :

- Individual trial on 'le Grand Raid 56, le Raid 56' and 'le Trail 56'
- Team race on 'le Grand Raid 56, le Raid 56', and 'le Trail 56'. The team is composed of 5 competitors (4 minimum ). For the 5th edition, 'le Raid Golfe du Morbihan' offers the 5th number of the team. That team must be part of the same club, or of the same association, or of the same firm (F.C.), or of the same commitee. The team results will be set up on the time performed by the 4th member of the team.
- for 'le Relais-Raid 56': the relay team is composed of 4 relayers. Each member choses one of the 4 relays (see §1 - 'Relais Raid 56')

f - Online or manual registrations :

-> Online : online registration implies a Bank Card payment

Procedure : To enrol online from our internet website , click on 'Registrations', and 'Online registrations' for the race or event of your choice. Fill in the registration form and click on 'send'. You will receive a mail of confirmation of your pre-registration and of your payment. You can follow up your registration from the heading "LIST OF PARTICIPANTS".

- For an individual registration : Enrol according to the procedure above-mentioned.
File to be returned for validation : your certificate or club member card (voir §4-d)

- For a team registration : each participant has to enrol according to the procedure above-mentioned. On each form, fill in the part related to the team registration. Make sure that the exact same team name has been spelt and that the 4 team members names have been correctly mentioned .
Team file to be returned in a single mail: medical certificates or club member cards (voir §4-d), registration forms and Bank Card payments of candidates who did not enrol online.

- For a 'Relais-Raid 56' registration : fill in one registration form for each relayer. The first relayer enrolling, must first fill in the team name. The three other relayers then select their team name in the list, among the ones already registered. Each relayer then has to tick the relay of his/her choice(see §1 - Relais-Raid 56), and report to the 3 other relayers.
Team file to be returned in a single mail : medical certificates or club member cards (see §4-d), registration forms and Bank Card payments of candidates who did not enrol online.


-> manual : 10 Euros additional charge for administration costs.

Procedure : the manual registration form is available for downloading on our internet website , by a click on 'Registrations', and on 'Registration form'. The form is the same for the 4 trials. You can download and print it. After sending your file, you can follow up your registration process by clicking on the heading 'LIST OF PARTICIPANTS'. If you do not have access to Internet, we can send the file to you on request.

- For an individual registration : Enrol according to the procedure above-mentioned.

- For a 'Relais-Raid 56' registration : fill in one registration form for each relayer. On each form, fill in the part related to the 'Relais-Raid 56' registration. Make sure that the exact same team name has been spelt and that the 3 team members names have been correctly mentioned.
Each relayer then has to tick the relay of his/her choice(see §1 - Relais-Raid 56), and report to the 3 other relayers.
Team file to be returned in a single mail: medical certificates or club member cards (voir §4-d), registration forms and Bank Card payments of candidates who did not enrol online.

g - Registration recording:

Your registration has been recorded when your file is complete(see §4-d).
For a more efficient follow up of the files, and to avoid any source of error, thank you for sending these documents together in a single mail.

Incomplete files will not be recorded.

h - Cancellation/ Refunding :

In order to avoid any issue, cancellation requests will have to be expressed before May, 31st 2009 by registered letter. IMPORTANT : Over that deadline, no more request will be taken into account(1).
For a withdrawal registered before :
March, 31st 2009 : 30% of the registration fee will be kept,
May, 31st 2009 : 40% of the registration fee will be kept,
Over these deadlines, no more request will be accepted.

5 – Logbook :

Every information related to the course is available on our website and can be printed. However, the loogbook 2009 will be delivered to every participant, along with the numbers.

6 - Shuttle service :

For competitors requesting it in their registration form, the organization will provide for a shuttle service (additional cost 6.00€).
Personal vehicules will be parked at le port du Crouesty (finish of all the trials). Shuttle vehicles will set off from le port du Crouesty, and will lead competitors to the starting point of their race, for the following cases only :
- Grand Raid 56 : Friday, 26th June beginning of the afternoon, for Locmariaquer.
- Raid 56 : Saturday, 27th June, beginning of the afternoon, for Vannes.
- Trail 56 : Saturday, 27th June, end Of the afternoon, for Noyalo.
- Relais-Raid 56 : No shuttle service is planned for relayers who will have to go to the starting point of each relay by their own means and park their car at the places specified.
Time schedule is to come.

7 – Categories :

Espoir : 1987 - 1989

VH 1 - VF 1 : 1960 - 1969
VH 2 - VF 2 : 1950 - 1959
VH 3 : 1940 - 1949
VF 3 : 1949 and before
VH 4 : 1939 and before

8 – Numbers :

- To collect your numbers : the place, the date and the time are to come
- The number must be visible whatever your outfit and whatever the weather. You must think about a fixation system convenient to you(pins, straps,...)
- Otherwise, you are liable to a 3 hours penalty (see § 12)

9 – Results :

The organization timer will be the only official reference. In addition to the general list of results, a list will be set up for all categories above-mentioned. The timer and the list of results will be collected from electronic chips which will be lent to competitors when fetching their numbers. They will have to be given back at the finish or with the number in case of withdrawal.
For the teams registered(Grand Raid 56, Raid 56 and le Trail 56), the list of results will be set up on the time performed by the 4th member of the team. For the 'Trail Tour 2009' participants, results will be reported to the FFA.

10 – Prizegiving :

- for the podium : cups and prizes offered by our sponsors
- for the finishers : tee-shirt "Finisher 2009 Raid Golfe du Morbihan"
- for all the participants : a box of cakes 'Raid Golfe du Morbihan'

For all the finishers, of the 4 events of 'le Raid Golfe du Morbihan', present during the prizegiving, a drawing of lots will be carried out in order to determine the winner of a flight, plus a stay, for 2 persons, in
one of the most beautiful bays in the world :
the Diego Suarez Bay, in Madagascar.

11 – Check points and controls :

Check points will be spread out along the course.Checkings are meant to secure the positioning and the follow up of competitors. They will vary in number and location. They will be placed so as to make sure that competitors take the whole course.
Every competitor delayed for personal help or assistance to a third, will have to ask for the credit corresponding to the delay, at the next check point, in order to be recorded.

12 - Penalties :

The members of the organization and the race stewards' mission on the course is to report any breach to the rules. Every breach will be susceptible to entail a penalty, according to the criteria below :

1 hour penalty :
- Lack of compulsary item specified in the rules, in the rucksack(2).

3 hours penalty:
- Number not visible, whatever the outfit
- personal assistance out of the official supply posts
- lack of checking at a point

Disqualification :
- removal (or theft) or shifting of the beacons during the race
- rucksack control refusal(2)
- lack of checking at more than one point
- lack of rucksack(2)
- lack of number
- checking after closing time schedule of a point
- use of a means of transport
- non-assistance to a competitor in danger
- pollution or damage to the sites by a competitor
- insults or threats towards a member of the organization
- refusal to have oneself examined by a dotor at any time during the event
- psychological or physical state of the competitor not allowing him/her to carry on the event
- doping or refusal to submit to anti-doping control

The disqualified competitor will not be allowed to enrol for the following edition.

13 – Withdrawal :

In case of withdrawal, the competitor must imperatively inform the organization by calling at the number indicated in the logbook. He will have to give his/her number back along with the chip to a member of the organization. The searching costs will be charged to the competitor should he/she leave the race by his/her own means without reporting his/her withdrawal. A shuttle service will be set up to collect withdrawing participants.
Participants withdrawing between Locmariaquer and Vannes will be driven back to Vannes. Participants withdrawing between Vannes and le port du Crouesty will be driven back to le port du Crouesty. Arrangements are still possible according to the situation and the availability of the shuttle service.
Except emergency, no shuttle service has been planned for withdrawing participants of the relays.
Any competitor who gets assistance by another means than the ones planned by the organisation, following a withdrawal, will be entirely liable for it.

14 – Medical Assistance :

A medical team will be present during the whole event. It is entitled to suspend from the race any competitor judged unfit to carry on the trial, because of a possible risk of endangering his/her personal safety as well as the general safety of the trial.

15 – Insurance :

Members of a club are covered by their membership card insurance. Other participants have to be covered by their personal insurance policy. The liability of the association will be relieved after withdrawal or disqualification.

16 – Checking of the rucksacs(2)before start off and delivery of the numbers:

Before the start off and on presentation of an identification paper :
- Systematic control of the rucksacs(2) will be operated in order to check that each competitor have the regular and compulsory outfit.
- The number and the chip will not be delivered if an outfit planned in § 18 is missing during inventory.
- Competitors commit themselves not to modify the content of the rucksack after signing and delivery of his/her number, until the finish.
- Access to the starting line will be refused to any competitor who will not have a complete(2)rucksack .
The content of the rucksack will be controlled by the organization along the course and any missing item will bring out a penalty(see § 10 Penalties ).

17 – Resting points during the event:

Competitors will be able to rest at points planned by the organisation (see website and logbook). Resting points available to competitors should not be considered as sheltering places. Runners having withdrawn or ended the race will have to arrange for their own resting place.
Resting points are exclusively reserved to participants of 'le Grand Raid 56, Raid 56' and 'Trail 56'. They will not be available to participants of 'le Relais-Raid 56'.

18 – Food and drinks:

THE KEYSTONE OF THIS RACE IS FOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY. Nevertheless, check points will supply participants with marathon type food and drinks.
Between these supply points, (available on the website and in the logbook), participants are expected to be totally self-sufficient and to use their food and drink supplies.

19 – Personal assistance :

Competitors will be able to get personal assistance at only 4 points. They will have the possibility of having assistance bags supplied(see chart below).
Assistance bags, of 20-30 liters, will have to be left at the starting places, and will then be convoyed by the organization, to the resting points indicated on the bags. The number will also have to be indicated on the bag.

Any 'flying' assistance of any type (drink suppliers, bikes or other), is totally excluded, or will be liable to a penalty defined in § 10.
People accompanying competitors will not have access to covered and closed places.
No personal assistance and bags have been planned for 'le Relais-Raid 56'.

20 – Equipment :

COMPULSORY Equipment for every competitors of the 4 events :
1 rucksack(2), containing what follows: 1 cap lamp with replacement bulb and battery( no bulb if 'leds'. To be kept for control and respect of the environment), 1 life support blanket or rug, 1,5 l water reserve minimum, 1 whistle, 1 food ration, 1 reflecting armband , 1 portable cell phone , 1 anti-inflamatory ointment tube , 1 6-8 cms large elastoplast retention band.

21 – Environment and Respect:

Competitors commit themselves to stand by race stewards' orders and the Highway Code.
They also commit themselves to respect the places they will go through. Each competitor is expected to keep his/her packings and rubbish until the next supply spot where they can be collected. Mind a little bag!
Nature is so beautiful, respect it. (See § 10 Penalties : Disqualification : damage or pollution of the sites by a competitor or his/her assistance)

22 – Course modification :

In case of absolute necessity and/or for safety reasons, the organisation is entitled to modify the course, the time limits, the positioning of the checkpoints, without notice.

23 – Image rights:

Every competitor of 'le Grand Raid 56', 'le Raid 56', 'les Relais-Raid 56' and 'le Trail 56' give up their image rights to the organization. These pictures will be able to be used on every medium.

24 – Disqualification:

The organization is entitled to exclude any competitor refusing to stand by the rules above mentioned or endangering his/her own safety as well as other competitors' one.
The competitor excluded will not be allowed to register for the next edition.



(1) We advise you to subscribe for a Cancellation Insurance with some specialised agencies.

(2) Rucksack and bags : any rucksack or bag susceptible to contain the regular and compulsary equipment mentioned in §18 : rucksack, bumbag, camel-bag,....
